In 2009, I founded and created Recruiter Earth Social Network and Magazine on a social technology platform called Ning.com (www.RecruiterEarth.ning.com). It was built in the dawn of an astronomical recession in 2009. What excited me about the creation of this new endevour, was the opportunity to truly have a closer connection with my peers in the industry. I wasn’t the first to build a social recruitment network, but I felt we needed a broader representation of the voices in the recruitment industry – a sort of souped up Linkedin group. After we signed up 1000 members, it was decided that we purchase a domain called RecruiterEarth.com which was built on the RecruiterEarth.ning.com platform. thirteen thousand members later, the domain name (RecruiterEarth.com) was sold and our main focus for 2011 was to bring together thought leaders who had a strong understanding of how to use social media for the recruitment process. We then purchased another domain name SocialZeus.com, and again built it on the original platform (Ning). This past year we have explored the possibilities of social media recruiting. Many of our members have learned to be more effective in utilizing this new way of communication. We’ve even ventured out into the creation of reality show Top Recruiter, The Competition (which is a topic all in it’s own.)
Over this past year we have received thousands of messages from our loyal members (via Emails, Social messaging, Phone calls, etc.) in regards to how they missed the brand of RecruiterEarth, and how they felt they were missing that certain voice. So in short, back by public demand, I have assembled my new team of graphic designers, thought leaders, writers, and production specialists to bring back the magic of RecruiterEarth Social Network & Magazine. In doing so we have acquired two recruiting networks to build our membership to over 103,000! We revisited a valueable lesson, one that I would like remind you of now; a domain name does NOT make a brand, the culture of its company does!
The return of RecruiterEarth will reside on RecruiterEarthMag.com, remember, this is your planet. This social network and publication has been built for you. We always welcome your questions, comments and thoughts on what we can do to better serve you and your needs. Now get ready for the relaunch to the planet, RecruiterEarthMag.com!
